You finally arrived - 6 days late, just like your older brother, only a few hours shy of the actual month of June. All the nurses loved the fact that baby June was born on May 31st.
Quick birth story -
Friday - prior to birth - I had a midwife appointment, and lots of tiny, contractions all night, but they went away by the morning.
Saturday - Grandma & Grandpa arrived for Carter's last t-ball game. We all had a yummy dinner at Mitchell's that night.
Sunday - We ended up at the doctor's office to make sure Carter wasn't sick. He fell asleep on me, like a baby, prior to the appointment. He got the all clear and Maevy and Carter left for Memphis for Grandma & Grandpa at 2ish. Mom and Dad had happy hour at Cork & Perk, then a dinner snack at Rudy's.
Monday - Memorial Day! Dad played golf in the morning. We had Cochon Butcher for lunch, Crying Wolf for dinner, and Daddy had a bourbon drink at Holland House.
Tuesday - May 31st - Early morning - I started having some more intense contractions - intense enough that I thought it best not to head to work. I took a bath and watched Chef's Table (love that show).
8am - called midwife to say we were probably coming to the hospital
9am - called back to say we were definitely coming to the hospital
930am - left for hospital. When we arrived I told Daddy to pull into the wrong valet parking place - at the Vanderbilt Clinic, instead of the hospital. Instead of getting the car, we walked the 5 minutes or so over to the hospital.
10am - Midwife saw me - I was about halfway dilated and she admitted me.
1130a - Nitris guy delivered the nitris
12pm- Wonderful volunteer doula, Brittany, arrived. She played with my hair for an hour.
1ish - I sent your Dad to go get some lunch..and then immediately transitional contractions started.
The next couple hours were pretty awful, lots standing, squatting, etc.
We finally broke my water at 2:45p...and you were born soon after.
It all sounds like a lot easier than it was....and in the end we had another giant baby - not as big as your brother, but definitely bigger than your big sister. :)
In true Mommy fashion, I was replying to work and personal emails within 30 minutes of having you.
Here's the announcement we sent out via email -
We proudly welcome-

Both Mom and baby June/Junebug/Junie are doing great. Big sister, Maevy, and big brother, Carter, are already fighting over her. Newborn hearing test to be performed tomorrow- send good thoughts and prayers our way.*
With love,
Amy & Ryan
Origins of her name: June - really was just inspired by the cuteness of possible nicknames and the time of year. It's derived from the Roman goddess - Juno, protectress of women and marriage - which we also thought was awesome. June's middle name, Ryan, is obviously an ode her to Daddy, a name Amy has always loved.
*Update - you passed your hearing test!
